Cherie Blair sues News of the World - Graham Atkins

Blair is demanding an apology and damages over the piece, headlined "War of Silence: Cherie's Secret Feud with PM's Sarah", which appeared in the News International-owned paper on January 27 this year. The wife of former prime minister Tony Blair has instructed law firm Atkins to represent her. Her case is being dealt with by Graham Atkins , who founded the firm nearly two years ago. Atkins has previously represented the Blairs in a number of cases, including the winning of "substantial damages" from Associated Newspapers in November last year for infringement of privacy. Governor Settles Lawsuit -

Attorneys for the Republican governor and Richardson released a joint statement saying that all three people Richardson had sued -- including Schwarzenegger aides Sean Walsh and Sheryl Main -- had agreed to the settlement “to all parties’ satisfaction.” Graham Atkins , Richardson’s attorney in London, said in a telephone interview that the terms of the settlement were private: “Can’t say anything, actually. It’s all confidential. But everyone seems to be pleased.” The standards for libel are different in England. There, the accused must defend the truth of his or her statements. In the U.S., the burden shifts to plaintiffs, who must prove remarks false. Reference Post:  https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2006-aug-26-me-arnold26-story.html
